Obsession: Otomi Textiles

Obsession: Otomi Textiles

via Desire to Inspire

I first became obsessed with Otomi fabric when it was featured in Domino magazine years ago…

Isn’t that bed gorgeous?!

Otomi textiles are handcrafted by the Mexican Otomi Indians out of muslin fabric and bright embroidery. I love the striking colors and the quirky feel of the animal patterns.

The textiles are a bit out of my budget, but I’m totally inspired by this project Lena Corwin features in her book Printing by Hand: A Modern Guide to Printing with Handmade Stamps, Stencils, and Silk Screens, which I already own! It would be so adorable in a baby’s room, a project I’m very much looking forward to in the next few years.
